With horses what's happening on the inside is just as important (if not more so) as what's happening on the outside. Its very easy when 'that time of year' comes round to nip down to the tack shop or vets and grab whatever wormer is on sale, but remember, even if you're alternating between wormers, not all wormers are created equal. Some are designed for spefic types of parasites while others might be just general wormers also the strength of and type of chemicals used in each wormer can vary greatly.
When deworming your horse it's important to know what parasites are present in your horse's gut and therefore in your field before you go out to purchase your wormer. By only worming for the parasites present you will money in the long term, have less chemicals going into your horse (remember all wormers are toxic!) and better parasite control of your pasture.
Westgate Labs produce this brilliant worm count kit. The purchase price of the kit includes the cost of the laboritory analysis of the sample so the cost you pay upfront is the only charge, inside the kit is your pre-paid voucher which you send off with your sample and you can chose to have results posted or emailed to you.
Available in single (blue) and double (red) shiny foil test pouches they offer even better value than the original boxed kit.
Whats in the Pouch:
Additionally we are delighted to be able to you a four count value pack from Westgate Labs, the four count kits offers great value for money (working out at £7.25 per count) meaning you have a year's supply of counts ready to hand when you want them or can send samples of up to four horses away at once for less than the cost of a tube of wormer per horse.
The only difference between the single/double packs and the four count pack is that the envelopes in the four count kit are not postage paid. Westgate do this to allow you to put two samples & vouchers in one envelope which will save you money at the post office.
